“When we replace a sense of service and gratitude with a sense of entitlement and expectation, we quickly see the demise of our relationships, society, and economy.”
Synopsis: In a world where instant gratification has become the norm, it’s easy for students to get swept up in society’s version of entitlement. But The Entitlement Myth program breaks down what students may think they deserve or were promised and gives them the truth — you have to work for what you want. Led by community volunteers and Speak Life staff, this one-hour session explains to students how believing that they are entitled to something not only frustrates them in the present but can ruin their future opportunities and chances. By believing in yourself, rather than what you think you deserve, you know that you can work hard to achieve your goals.
